Drinking anything but water really doesn't count as water. Even if fruits or a can of soda has water content in it, your body has to work hard to process through everything else that is not water to actually get to the water. And the amount of water is not nearly as much as actual water itself. So when you hear that you have to drink 8 glasses a day, it doesn't mean to count the cup of coffee, the wine at dinner, and all the juice or soda that you had. Water is water. Only count the glasses of water.
Dehydration is something you cannot see. Your organs, tissues, muscles and cells can become dehydrated and many of us don't even realize it but we are more dehydrated than we thing. A good way to test yourself is to sup hot water every 10 minutes throughout the day for 2 weeks. If you find yourself craving water, it's a good indication that your body is crying out for it.
While we have nothing against a good fruit and veg smoothie, or a cool refreshing fruit infused water, it is equally important to just drink plain water and start to wean yourself from the other stuff. This will not only help you to keep weight off but it will help your body and all your organs to optimize itself!
